Sagging in the abdominal area due to excessive weight loss, pregnancy or the effects of age can be eliminated with a tummy tuck surgery. Tummy tuck (abdominoplasty) surgery is an operation performed to eliminate sagging in the abdominal area by removing fat and excess skin in this area and tightening loose tissues.

Sagging in the abdominal area can create an unpleasant appearance over time, and women may feel uncomfortable with this situation. In some women, sagging may occur due to genetic conditions, previous operations, or multiple pregnancies. To eliminate these sagging, a good plastic surgeon should be consulted.

Before tummy tuck surgery, the excesses in the abdominal area, fat tissue and sagging skin are determined. The person’s previously used medications, past illnesses and alcohol and smoking habits are evaluated. Abdominoplasty surgery is an operation performed under general anesthesia.

Before Tummy Tuck Surgery

Before the tummy tuck surgery, the type of operation to be performed is determined according to the general condition of the patient. After the excess fat tissue and excess skin in the abdomen are removed, the weak muscles in the abdomen are tightened. The possibility of scarring after abdominoplasty surgery is high, so the stitch site is usually chosen to be inside the underwear.

Tummy tuck surgery lasts between 1.5 and 4 hours. Stitches are removed within a few weeks and the person can easily continue their daily life. A corset must be used for at least two months after surgery. At first, there may be pink-purple marks in the abdominal area. But these marks disappear over time and after about 9 months, color changes disappear and only a stitch mark that can be hidden under underwear remains.

Tummy tuck surgery is not an operation performed to lose weight and get rid of excess weight. Overweight people should get rid of their excess weight by following a diet program and exercising before this surgery.
